Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius Tour from Naples Itinerary

Take in the historic ruins of Pompeii during a scenic day trip. Learn about the tragic eruption that destroyed the ancient city that is now preserved in volcanic ash. During the day tour, you’ll uncover Pompeii’s past, get close to the famous Mount Vesuvius, and take in the scenery along the coast of Italy.

Beginning in Naples, your experienced and knowledgeable guide will take you to Pompeii. Once there, you’ll hear about the city’s fascinating history as your guide leads you through the ruins. Some of the ruins that can still be seen are ancient baths and bakeries along cobbled streets After two hours of exploring, you’ll have gained insight into the history of Pompeii and what daily life had been like in 79AD before Mount Vesuvius erupted and destroyed the ancient city.

When the tour concludes, you’ll be able to enjoy free time and grab a snack (own cost) or continue walking around before we visit Mount Vesuvius. We’ll drive to the top of the volcano, where you can embark on a 30-minute walk to its peak. From here, you’ll be able to look out over the city at the incredible views. You’ll also learn about the history and geography of the volcano from an alpine guide.

Once we’ve explored Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, we’ll head back to Naples where the tour unfortunately comes to an end.
